Stakes for winning government contracts are higher than ever. That's why state lobbying has become vital to your overall lobbying effort.

But state lobbying is a very different field than Washington lobbying. Different rules apply and different government relations teams may be involved. In fact, unless you're careful, state lobbying could expose you to devastating regulatory problems, penalties and even contract set aside.

That's why you need to know exactly what regulatory pitfalls to avoid - and what best practices to apply. Here's where to start ...

Register now for State Lobbying and the Regulatory Process: Multiple Fronts, Multiple Challenges on April 19 at the Hall of States from 8:45-11:45 am. (8:45 Registration; 9:00 a.m. Speakers)

In this LCP Program, a team of state lobbying experts will arm lobbyists and government contractors with best practices for everything from monitoring developments in one state to managing a full-scale, multi-state program.

Drawing on the real-world insights of state lobbying practitioners, you'll learn how to coordinate state and Federal teams and keep up with different legislative schedules - all without risking severe penalties over the different campaign finance, gifts, and registration requirements that apply to different states.

Reserve your space now to manage all the fronts and all the challenges, including how to:

  • Get fully up to speed on regulatory considerations, key principles of state lobbying, and procurement issues related to Stimulus spending
  • Position your company, organization or client to take maximum advantage of state-level activities
  • Effectively mesh state efforts with Washington contracting and lobbying
  • Apply best practices for coordinating and monitoring state initiatives
  • Ensure that none of your lobbying activities inadvertently trigger compliance problems (and expose you to severe penalties and even contract set-aside)
  • Protect your interests - and contracts and awards - amid new regulations, procurement processes and government priorities
  • Use an up-to-date understanding of regulatory agencies and departments to build the right lobbying strategy and target the right state legislators
  • Cultivate productive relationships, partnerships, and new avenues of influence
